Blunt, Soft Spoken, and (to some extent) Highly Respectful : Though she always means well, Edelweiss's remarks are always short and to the point. She hardly bothers sugar-coating her opinions, believing that it isn't necessary to do so, especially if she wants to make it clear that she stands by her remarks. Still, her intentions when speaking shortly are primarily good, even if they tend to cause friction because of their brash and sometimes impolite manner. Her overall demeanor, however, doesn't usually consist of these cold statements as she's actually very soft spoken. The brashness usually arises when she's nervous or in the classroom environment where she believes answering as honestly as possible is appropriate. She has a deep respect for her superiors and strives to do the best she can while in service. This respect also extends towards her fellow soldiers as she treats everyone with the same crisp formality until she deems them unworthy of such civility. Though this may seem contrary to her bluntness, it should be noted that her brashness usually only arises when she feels it is necessary for things to move along faster. That being said, she is, to some extent, a little impatient when it comes to dealing with others, but she tries the best she can to tolerate other people since she likes to avoid conflict when unnecessary (despite this, her remarks usually spark conflict anyways, so you could say she causes arguaments unintentionally). In short: it can be perceived that she respects her fellows so deeply that she wants them to understand her point of view in the clearest possible way even if it causes (again, unintentional on her part) conflict. Of course, her intentions are rarely read as respectful or helpful due to their nature.
Introverted : Edelweiss works best as an individual, believing that you can't rely too heavily on others to get something done, even if you share the same goals. She's also of the mind where she thinks others could be a distraction or cause her to act irrationally in tight situations, so she prefers keeping to herself for the most part.
Focused and Obedient : Edelweiss is extremely stiff-collared and will try to execute tasks given to her as efficiently and accurately as possible. For example, even if she dislikes working with others, she will do it if she's ordered to.
Rational : Her critical thinking skills are quite exemplary, as she's able to think through difficult and trying situations. Her logical and practical mindset causes her to be a bit plain, but her sense of logic more than makes up for it, especially since she's relatively good under pressure.
Lacks Empathy : Edelweiss is awful at recognizing feelings and emotions, especially those of other people. She isn't empathetic at all and has a hard time connecting to other people. For example, she could state a hard truth and be confused when others get upset over it. She believes that, no matter how horrible they are, facts are facts. On the flip side, however, she takes comfort in certainty rather than uncertainty as will be explained in her bio.

Growing up in a fairly normal family in Wall Rose, Edelweiss's childhood was average. She lived with her mother, father, and older brother, Silas, whom she greatly adored. The family made their living off the small bakery that they ran in Trost and everything seemed picturesque and perfect up until the point where Silas decided to join the military. At first, her mother opposed of the decision -- after all, who would send their son off to fight those horrifying monstrosities willingly? Though it took some persuasion on her father and brother's part, eventually Silas got his way and he left to become a soldier. The years without her brother were a little lonely as Edelweiss had never played with the other children in the neighborhood, preferring the company of her brother instead. She spent much of this time learning to read and write and immersing herself in her work at the bakery. Despite her brother no longer being there, life still carried on in the Reicht household. It wasn't until he completed his training that Silas returned home briefly to tell his family of the great news: he'd be joining the Scouting Legion and making expeditions behind the walls! Edelweiss, absolutely brimming with excitement, was happy for her brother, but her parents had other opinions. Absolutely against their son's decision, they tried to urge him, once again, not to pursue his goals. Silas remained stubborn, insisting that it was his duty and that he couldn't turn back. Silas was not an extraordinary soldier; he wasn't especially talented or gifted; it wasn't hard to guess what the knock on the door meant months after he joined the Scouting Legion. It was Edelweiss who opened the door as the Scouting Legion officials entered her house and explained the situation, asking that Edelweiss leave the room before they began. The story that the officials told her mother and father was simply: Silas had gone missing in action. Being allowed back into the room a few minutes later, the officials began to leave. Edelweiss's mother had left the room and her father's face was that of solemn acceptance; they both knew that he was probably dead and that they couldn't recover the body. As the last man left the room, Edelweiss tugged on his cloak and inquired as to why her brother wasn't with them. The man didn't answer. A sense of panic rising, Edelweiss then turned to her father for an answer but all he did was shake his head. It wasn't until years later that Edelweiss discovered that her brother had been classified as missing in action. This discovery ultimately led to her wanting to become a soldier. She couldn't live with the uncertainty; no matter how many times her parents insisted that he had died a long time ago, she wouldn't accept any answer unless it was solid. Her parents absolutely forbade her from joining the military, they couldn't face the thought of losing another one of their children. Edelweiss had to make a very hard decision; she didn't want to selfishly abandon her parents, but she felt that she needed to at least figure out the truth behind her brother's disappearance, no matter how terrible. Even though the answer seemed obvious, she still held onto the small hope that her brother might actually be alive. That hope drove her to eventually run away from her home to enroll in the military.
